Questions, answered.
Is this the real Claude?
Yes. Every request is passed straight to Anthropic's API and the response streams back unchanged. Same models, same features: streaming, tool use, vision, long context. We sit in the middle only to check your key and meter tokens in Naira.
Why not just pay Anthropic directly?
You can, if you have a dollar card that works abroad and FX limits to spare. Most Nigerian developers don't. With Hephaestus you pay in Naira by card, bank transfer or USSD, starting at ₦5,000.
Does my balance expire?
No. Top up once and use it whenever you like. You only pay for the tokens you actually use, down to the kobo.
Does it work with Claude Code?
Yes. Set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL to our endpoint and ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN to your Hephaestus key, then run claude as usual. The official Python and TypeScript SDKs work too: change the base URL and you're done.
What happens when my balance runs out?
Requests return a clear 402 error, so nothing surprises you. Turn on auto-alerts at any threshold, and set a hard spending cap on each key so a runaway loop can't drain your wallet.
Do you store my prompts?
No. We log token counts, model and timestamps for billing, never the content of your requests or responses.
