Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Hephaestus (https://gethephaestus.com). By creating an account or using the API you agree to them.
1. What Hephaestus is
Hephaestus is an independent service that gives developers access to Claude models through an API, with usage paid for in Naira. Hephaestus is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Anthropic. “Claude” is a trademark of Anthropic, PBC.
2. Your account
- You must give accurate information and keep your password and API keys secret. You are responsible for all use of your keys.
- Tell us straight away if a key is exposed. You can revoke it yourself at any time in your dashboard.
- One person or organisation per account. Don't share or resell your keys.
3. Payments and credit
- Hephaestus is prepaid. You top up your balance in Naira (minimum ₦5,000) through Flutterwave, and each API request deducts its cost.
- Prices are shown in Naira per million tokens and may change. A change applies to requests made after it, never to requests already made.
- Your balance does not expire while your account is in good standing.
- Requests that are already running when your balance reaches zero are completed and charged, so your balance can briefly go below zero. The next top-up settles it.
- Payments are processed by Flutterwave. We never see or store your card details.
- For a question about a charge or a refund, email support@gethephaestus.com with the request ID or payment reference.
4. Acceptable use
You must follow Anthropic's Usage Policy and all applicable law. In particular, you must not use the service to:
- generate or distribute illegal content, malware, or material that exploits or endangers children;
- harass, deceive or defraud people, or run scams;
- attempt to bypass rate limits, spending caps or billing, or probe the service for vulnerabilities without our written permission.
Because all customers share one connection to Anthropic, abuse by one account can put everyone at risk. We may suspend or close any account, with or without notice, that we reasonably believe breaks these rules, and may refuse requests that violate them.
5. Availability
Hephaestus depends on Anthropic and other third parties. We aim for a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we are not responsible for outages or changes at Anthropic. Requests that fail upstream are not billed.
6. Your content
You keep all rights to what you send and receive. We pass your requests to Anthropic to get a response and do not store the content of your prompts or responses. We keep billing records: token counts, the model used, timestamps and cost. See our Privacy Policy.
7. Limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, Hephaestus is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or data, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.
8. Changes and ending
We may update these terms; we'll post the new version here and the date above will change. You can stop using Hephaestus at any time and ask us to close your account. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
